Project Discovery Services

Project Discovery Services

Turn an unclear product idea, feature, or inherited project into a buildable scope, prioritized backlog, technical direction, and delivery estimate.

Start with a consultation

Consultation or discovery?

Choose the format based on what you need to decide: the next step, what to build, how much it may cost, what needs fixing, or whether an approach will work.

Choose this when you need an expert view before committing time and budget to a larger engagement.

A consultation is a good fit if:

  • You are unsure what the right next step is
  • You need to validate a product or technical direction
  • You want to understand whether discovery is necessary
  • You need to decide between an audit, POC, estimate, or development
  • You have a specific question but do not need a full discovery process

You get: a recommended next step, the reasoning behind it, and a clear list of the main unknowns.

Choose your consultation
or discovery format

Compare the scope, outputs, timeline, and indicative price of each format. Start with a consultation when the next step is unclear, or choose discovery when you need a defined product scope and delivery plan.

Free fit call

A short introductory call to understand your situation and identify the most suitable next step.

  • We discuss: your idea, current stage, and main questions
  • You get: a verbal recommendation and guidance on what to prepare
  • Not included: material review, written deliverables, or product recommendations

Product Consultation

An expert review of a specific product decision based on your goals, constraints, and existing materials.

  • We explore: the business goal, available materials, constraints, and riskiest unknowns
  • You get: a written decision brief with recommended next steps and unresolved questions
  • Includes: 1–2 working sessions
  • Not included: detailed requirements, architecture, backlog, or development estimate
  • Excludes: implementation, migration, managed services, penetration testing and certification

Focused Discovery Sprint

Turn one product, workflow, or high-risk feature into a defined and estimable scope.

  • We explore: users, core workflows, assumptions, feasibility, integrations, and delivery risks
  • You get: a discovery brief, prioritized scope, core user stories, architecture concept, risk register, and estimate range
  • Scope: one product or workflow, limited integrations, and limited or no external user research
  • Not included: clickable prototype unless scoped, code audit, or production development

Full Product Discovery

Define a complex product or platform with multiple roles, integrations, stakeholders, or technical constraints.

  • We explore: business model, user journeys, data and security, integrations, architecture options, release strategy, and team needs
  • You get: PRD, journey map, prioritized backlog, architecture direction, risk register, release plan, team composition, estimate range, and roadmap
  • Timeline: up to eight weeks for complex or regulated domains
  • Not included: full UI design system, production-ready prototype, certification, or implementation

How consultation
and discovery work

Both formats follow the same structured process. A consultation focuses on the decision you need to make next, while discovery goes deeper into product scope, technical direction, and delivery planning.

We review your goals, current stage, available materials, known constraints, and the decision the engagement needs to support.

From your team: a short brief, existing documents, and a kickoff session.

Context and scope

What happens next

The outcome may be a development plan, a smaller validation step, further analysis,

or a decision not to build yet. You choose how to proceed.

Estimate and development

Estimate and development

If the scope and technical direction are clear, we prepare a delivery estimate and move into POC, MVP, or full product development.

Validate a critical assumption

Validate a critical assumption

If one technical or product risk remains, we define a focused proof of concept before committing to a larger build.

Review an existing system

Review an existing system

If the main uncertainty lies in the current codebase, infrastructure, or delivery process, we may recommend a technical audit instead.

Refine, pause, or reconsider

Refine, pause, or reconsider

If the evidence does not support development yet, we identify what needs further validation or recommend a smaller, safer next step.

Turn your next product decision into a clear plan

Send us the product question, feature, workflow, or scope you want to work through. We’ll confirm what we need from your side, who should join, how long the engagement will take, and the final cost.

What our
customers say

We continuously stay updated with industry trends in development, prioritizing strategies that offer the utmost advantages to our customers.

"This project was interesting to Mad Devs, not only because we could provide proper expertise in blockchain. But also to build processes that initially improve development and increase the final product quality."

"Their gentle approach helped us develop a more positive attitude toward development. Even though there were disagreements. But I am very happy that it has happened."

FAQ

Yes, the output should be structured for handoff: scope, backlog, assumptions, risks, and technical direction. Artifact ownership and reuse rights should be confirmed in the project agreement.

No. Discovery should help you make a better decision. If you continue with Mad Devs, the artifacts shorten onboarding. If not, they still help another team understand the work.

Discovery may recommend a smaller POC, more research, a pivot, or not building yet. That is a useful outcome because it prevents a larger wrong investment.

Yes. Start with Product Opportunity Consultation or a focused discovery sprint around the riskiest workflow or assumption.

Access to existing materials, stakeholder availability, answers to product and technical questions, and timely decisions on scope trade-offs.

Not by default. It can be included when the main uncertainty is user flow, UX, or stakeholder alignment.

Discovery improves estimate reliability by narrowing assumptions and scope. It should produce a range and confidence level, not a universal fixed price for unknown work.
